Escaping frost damage

The ice capsules, formed by sprinkling the vines with water on nights when temperatures dip below freezing, has protected the buds. Here the same cane two weeks on and there is a lot of growth with the inflorescences visible. The growth on two control rows that were not sprinkled appears significantly reduced at this stage.
