Time to plant a new generation of vines. Biagio the local expert, has been perfecting his technique for a few years and the ground is prepared very carefully before the cuttings are installed. A mystery creature has squashed a few…. is it the curious muntjack or the sneaky fox…..
After pruning, shooting canes are tied down to trellising, in preparation for the start of budding. Shop next open for tasting and sales of remaining Hendred Brut on 13th April.

The frosty vines are undergoing a brutal pruning to neaten them up for the new season. This diligent work takes time but is such a pleasure when the sun is shining, despite the cold. Local vineyard expert – the legendary Biagio can tame the most unruly vine.
As the sun rises on the bare vines at the start of a new year, we reflect on how the growing conditions of 2018 were so good to produce a healthy crop and hope that 2019 brings good weather again. The vineyard lies tranquil for now, in rest, before the magic of the growing cycle starts all over again.
The vines are glowing with autumn colours and resting…… Shop opening for tastings and sales of Hendred Brut ALL Saturdays in December 2-5pm and for one Friday only 23rd November 12-1.30pm.
Phew, the grapes are in, double the usual quantity, earlier and beautifully clean thanks to the warm and sunny summer. Now transferred to our expert winemakers to start the fermentation process which will take about two and a half years to complete, using the traditional method to create sparkling wine. Also in progress is a rose which will be ready next summer; the juice is tantalizingly sweet already.
